ABOUT THE PROJECT

The comprehensive planning process will be taking place over the next few months, with the final plan expected to be adopted in February 2022. When complete, the new comprehensive plan will outline the future goals of Greensburg and be the foundation for all policy decisions. When implemented, the document will help encourage economic development, enable sustainability, protect the quality of life of current residents, and ensure healthy growth for the city.

INFORMATION
GATHERING

This phase is all about gathering information and understanding. Where is the community at now? Where does it want to go? What obstacles does it face? How can they be overcome?

IDEA & STRATEGY DEVELOPMENT

This phase is where the project team works with community leaders to develop long-term goals and the strategies to achieve them. These are based on what the community has told the team in the prior phase, and are intended to first maintain and then grow the community.

COMMUNITY DRIVEN IMPLEMENTATION

In this final phase, the project team makes sure all plan goals are realistically achievable and have begun laying the groundwork for implementation along with the plans adoption. This includes connecting with partners, appointing task leaders, and identifying resources.

THE PROJECT TEAM

A critical part of the success of this planning process is the participation of property owners, residents, business owners, and other stakeholders in the community. A comprehensive plan is, at its foundation, a guiding document that touches the life of every community resident.

To ensure the planning takes into account the ideas, concerns, and desires of the broader community, the process will incorporate three different community groups that will assist the consulting team in developing and reviewing plan deliverables.

PROJECT
STUDY REVIEW
COMMITTEE

The study review committee is a coalition of local leaders who work with the American Structurepoint project team, guiding the process, providing immediate feedback, and deciding the final character of the plan.

PROJECT
AMBASSADORS

The project ambassadors will serve as liaisons between the steering committee and the community, teaching residents how the planning process works and how the document will be used in the future.

PROJECT
STAKEHOLDERS

The project stakeholders are individuals who represent a wide array of community interests, including major employers, developers, community organizations, and leadership.
